Hello Mike @mike36

I would also encourage you to see a good physician, perhaps even a neurologist because of the tremors and headaches. A good psychiatrist would also be great, because they are M.D.s and can look at the medical picture as well as the psychological picture that you present. If you are not able to get a referral from your doctor, please contact your county (or state) mental health association and see what they suggest. Also, if there is a NAMI group in your area, they can be of great assistance.

Will you keep in touch and let us know how you are doing?

It's good to know that something is being done. Having lived with Major Depressive Disorder for around 15 years, I understand what you're saying when you talk about being exhausted. Everything and anything can be overwhelming and exhausting, and sometimes patience is in short supply. Now you have one goal to aim for. Having even a small goal brings a measure of hope. We're with you.

Mike, sorry I have been out of touch for a while, but sorry for what you are going through. If you are experiencing depression, it is really not surprising that general practitioners would have no ideas, because they are out of their field, but for them not to try to refer you to someone who may have a clue is incompetent at best and uncompassionate and incompetent at worst. If your symptoms are being caused by depression, the urgency from the medical community should be the same as if they diagnosed you with cancer. It is also incomprehensible that you have not had an MRI scheduled before now. I know this is not fun for anyone who already feels terrible, but you need to be "in your face" with your physicians as politely as possible, but "I don't understand" is not acceptable and you need to press that. Usually, you will find some family who understand and some who don't. The genetics of anxiety and/or depression is so common in my family, that it is our default position when someone says I just don't feel right. Proper health care, including mental health care, is not a privilege regardless of what a few uninformed congress people may suggest. Please stay in touch. Tell us how you feel as specific as you are comfortable (there are some very experienced and compassionate people on this site). We will not leae you dangling as badly as some of the physicians you have seen have. Please take care of yourself firs, Gary

@mike36 welcome and thanks for sharing, I too have had so many up and down days. When the down become more than up I know it is time to check in. I have read through several of the posts and I may have missed this, but have you tried walking? I know it sounds simple, but for me it is the most effective way to get out of a bad cycle, however as simple as it may sound it is the hardest thing to do. For me I have to push myself, to get up and walk around the block. I start with around the block and work my way up to go a mile. It can take days or months to get to that mile point. And when I say walk, working and cleaning the house every day activities do not count. It has to be a purposeful walk. Does that make sense to you? I am also in a low place and I keep on putting off that walk, I know I have to do it, I know it will help tremendously, but I put it off. It is easier to ignore the task than to do it, I get that. Let me know your thoughts. I agree with everyone else you need to get the symptoms checked out, headaches, tremors and sleep deprivation warrant further investigation.

@mike36 Sorry things are crappy-in October. Trust things have improved. I understand your words-make the trip to the same place often. Rather there now. No one sees my pain/sadness. Others only see a smiling face. Would not want another to see inside.
