now it's down to 2 diagnosis either alexander or krabbes (both leukodystrophies). the good news is if it's alexander then the couple will more than likely birth another child without any of these problems. with alexander, the problem is in the egg upon fertilization so it is genetic but only with respect to the baby, it's a de novo, spontaneous mutation that just occurred and it is not family dna connected. the bad news is there really is no treatment for either one
