Thank you for posting this. Very informative forward looking discussion of all things bronchiectasis. I like the individual links for each discussion. Next time I will try to join during live stream as the QA did not appear to be recorded. Am I correct about this @becleartoday ? Thanks again.

So encouraging .......with all that is being understood and the advances that have been made/being made.
Interesting the statement about climate change...
Without hearing anything from my doctors referring to it as a problem..... I had given thought to all that which is happening with our climate before hearing what was said by Dr. Kasperbauer and climate change. When speaking to others about my condition, what it is etc, and having given thought to what we know is happening with climate I indicated I believed that climate change played a role in causing greater bacterial problems. The Weather/Climate: such as Flooding/Heat/Bacteria etc.
I am sure many of us in all the reflecting we have done due to our illness with being what it is.....have given thought to climate change as a possible contributor.
Thanks for giving us the post and the recording.

Thank you, Linda. I was unable to watch at the time and am very grateful to be able to watch the videos, especially since I’m at the point, after watching and waiting for 3 years, of facing doctor’s recommendation that it’s time to start treatment. I’ve had only one positive MAC culture in the last year (last 2 have been negative), and each CT scan has been “about the same,” but doctor says when he compares scans over the three years it’s definitely worse. I still have a number of questions and will be discussing at an upcoming appointment.

Thank you very much, Linda! Sharing the link was super helpful.

I’ve seen a few posts saying that MAC has been cleared without treatment.lMy Dr. told me MAC would not go away without antibiotics..I am so afraid to start them..it seems s everyone has had horrible side effects..please help

@sak123 don't be afraid. Your doctor will work with you on best options. I did it for 21 months and finally tested negative. I would do it again if necessary.

@sak123 May I ask if you are seeing a pulmonologist experienced in treating MAC?
This is not a criticism, but because MAC is a rare infection, many pulmonologists and infectious disease doctors have little or no experience treating it. Primary care providers have even less familiarity with treating it.

There is a protocol for determining when to use antibiotics, and when to actively watch and wait. You can find it on pages 12-15 of this guide.

Airway clearance is one of the keys to reducing or eliminating infections. 7% saline nebs can also help reduce the infection in some cases. Has your doctor suggested either of these?

@sueinmn yes I use a nebuliser with 7% saline..I have a pulmonologist who specializes in MAC ..I am so afraid of starting the antibiotics because I am 82 yrs old and weigh 90 lbs..all of the people who post seem to have terrible side effects..As of now I can live my life..I don’t want to be housebound because of the medication..I have Bronchietasis and copd as well as osteoporosis and an aortic and mitral valve heart leak..A dr. Told me my immune system is very poor and wants to start me on infusions..I never had a flu shot and have never had the flu or pneumonia or bronchitis I seldom get a cold..I had Covid but it only lasted for two days..I feel my immune system numbers might be bad but it’s working for me..
