Myfortic: Experiences re: long-term use?

Posted by humbug @humbug, Feb 15 10:21am

I'm wondering if people have had any negative/concerning effects using the immunosuppressant Myfortic longterm?
My doctor told me it's generally well tolerated and safe.
I've only been on it for about 4 months at this point for AIH, but in case I have to be on it long-term I would love to hear from others re: their experiences with it.

@humbug I was on Myfortic or about2.5 years with not a single problem. I had been on cellcept before but had a serious side effect (out of control diarrhea). It was later determined to be EPI, epocrine pancreatic insufficiency. The only problem I had was the waiting! Not eating for 2 hours after a pill or 1 hour before the pill.
We still eat dinner at the same time I was taking the pill-6pm! Old habits die hard and that was an old habit.

@becsbuddy Thanks for sharing your experiences with myfortic! Glad you didn't experience anything adverse with usage.
I admit that there are times I forget about the time restrictions around food. I take it twice a day around the same times.
I seem to be experiencing itching that coincides with starting it, but it could just be dry air. I'll see if it goes away after winter.
Thanks again!!
