I am 54 years old and I have Fibromyalgia

Posted by @jcorona, Sep 7, 2015

My name is Jennifer, I am 54 years old and I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about a year ago. I still don’t really understand the nature of this disease. Is it brain and nerve disease? Is this curable? How much worst can it get? I have been treated with some antidepressant and pain medicine, but I am not getting any better. I have so many fibromyalgia symptoms along with severe migraine headaches and often get extremely depressed and feeling hopeless. Please help!

Hi Jennifer. So sorry to hear you are dealing with this. My mom has fibromyalgia and I know how frustrating and painful it can be. For her, I know it took her awhile to get it under control, but once she did, she only has flare ups every once in awhile… I hope that brings you some hope! Here is some information from Mayo Clinic about the condition- http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/fibromyalgia/basics/definition/con-20019243. Hopefully that gives you some more understanding of it. Can anyone else provide some personal experience with fibromyalgia?
