Hello @wishingtobepainfree and welcome to Mayo Connect. I’m pleased that you have joined this online patient support network. Thank you also for your post regarding muscle, joint pain. I’m sorry to hear that you are having this type of problem. While none of us are medical professionals and cannot diagnose your problem it might be helpful to learn a little more about your situation. You mention both pain and weakness. You said that it has been a few years and your doctor can find nothing wrong. Please feel free to share with us the type of doctor or specialist(s) that you have seen. What kinds of tests have been done to examine your muscles and joints? Do you have any other health problems or symptoms other than the muscle/joint pain and weakness? I’m sure that others in our Connect community will be responding to your post in the near future. Best wishes. Teresa

Wishing, please share what you have learned so far. Have you had your vitamin D levels checked? That is a very common cause of skeletal/muscle pain and often overlooked, but easily corrected with prescription doses. The description you described can be attributed to many causes. I feel your pain! Similar symptoms for me began around the age of 55 and it seemed that I went from an active person to a very fragile old lady within a couple of years. Please give us more information.

Hi yes im taking vitiam D once a month it was low…also they tell me my testostreon is low but say its not low enough to worry…also in on chloesteral meds and I read that that can cause my symptons…im diabetic also heart disease with 3 stents and very bad back..waitibg to go to mayos for surgery soon

Hello
I live in a small town and nit one doctor learned about my problem with pain in muscle joints in medical school. I went to many doctors and they claimed all in my head, stress, etc. At 56 and pain in joints etc i has three dissections of aorta ,heart valve replacement and was perhaps only one to live. I was disabled and I finally went to a large hospital in another state and the genetic specialist tested me for 5 hours. He said it might be a rare connective tissue disease passed from your parent. I then searched for dr francomano in baltimore marylynn. I live in ms. I got a free medical flight for people with undiagnosed medical problems. She found i had one of possibly four connective tissue diseases. I have sense found i do not have ,EHLERS DANLOS BUT AN UN NAMED RARE FORM. so search on line for zebra on facebook and youll find thousands with problems like your symtoms. May not be what u have at all but 1 out of maybe 500 doctors would never even suspect or know about it. Good luck
Judee

I just posted what i went through to find out . I found a genetic specialist can find problems like those described joint, muscle, fatique, pain, loss of weight ,pain moving around your body because of inflamation. I forgot to mention two things ,one i had no vit D at all . Genectic dr. Put me on 10,000 mg day, then that mast cell disease causes joint muscle pain also. Process of eliminating many foods. I also have that. But my pain is reduced drastically by not eating many foods and taking vit D . Not diagnoising but sharing experiences. Good luck

I had my vit d3 tested three years ago by a new doctor. My test resultscame back as NONE! Although it is by far one of the most important vitamins to you being healthy, with out it you will be open to many serious illness. NONE of my many doctors had checked it for whatever reason.
I started back then and still am on 10,000 units a day of vit d3. That is 70,000 a week. Im not recomending this for you ar all, just that most people get the wrong test and it sounds up fine. The doctor rechecked me each three months for a year. I feel better,my nails are better. I have more energy, my hair is thicker.
I suggest that everyone ask their primary care doctor to check this along with magnium level once a year.
agnium is what I had extremly low leverls in when all of a sudden I was taken by ambulance to the E.R at hospital. They gave me magnuium as I went into Afib.
I now take what Cleveland heart suggests on a u tube video, that is 400 mg a day to stay healthy for your heart and many other illnesses we get for lack of it. The blood test to chack this is RBC
You have to be careful ,as you need to get GLY-Cinate (might be spelled wrong) The GLY is because this is buffered as magnuium is know to cause loose bowels, cramping and upset stomach. But it has helped me a lot.
Some of this does not relate to your information above but I find it is very common to be low in both. Good Luck
