Mucus Color NTM

Good question, I have wondered about this at times also. It seems that people here have all kinds of sputum ... ! Mine has always been clear or pale white or sometimes small bits of pale yellow. When I had pneumonia this past spring there was more pale yellow and thicker, with more of it. I have had mild bronchiectasis for almost 15 years and was first tested for MAC two years ago, came up positive, treatment failed after the 11th month and I have been positive since. But never have had "colors". Go figure.

I have had Bronchiectasis and NTM diagnosis since 2008. My mucus is always pale golden, with some variation for flare ups when there is more and sometimes with blood streaks or slightly darker.

@lvnl @picartist I wish I had the websites with videos to give you however you can ask "Google" questions to find much information with pictures and explanations about the colors that we bring up with the sputum.

@picartis My pulmonologist rolls her eyes when I bring up sputum color. According to her it is highly individual. In my case, as long as it is transparent, it is fine. If it becomes opaque I pay attention because something bad can be happening.
Have you asked your doc about what type of sputum should cause concern?
