Misdiagnosed

A friend's mother was diagnosed with PD several months ago by a neurologist. Went to a different neurologist this week. Was told doesn't have PD but has cerebellar ataxia. That's so frustrating for her.

@mariemarie Thanks for your post. I'm sure that she must have been frustrated. Do you know what her treatment plan will be for this disorder?
There are several brain disorders that have similar symptoms. The one way to diagnose PD is to take the meds and if they relieve the symptoms that confirms the PD diagnosis. A strange way to make a diagnosis, but it seems to work. Teresa

No meds at this time. Her mother should exercise but doesn't

@mariemarie I can't speak for everyone, because each person's PD symptoms are different. But for me, it was the "staggered-gait" the foot dragging and the balance problems that were helped by the meds. Teresa
