Micro adenoma of pituitary and frequent thirst and urination

Posted by @markvic in Diabetes/Endocrine System, Jul 20, 2012

I am 58 and always worked out and stay in shape. In 2001 I was diagnosed with a micro adenoma of the pituitary. Since my testosterone levels were low I have been on replacement therapy and it has been ok. In the last two months I have aged exponentially. I have lost most of my energy. I am constantly thirsty and urinate profusely ten to fifteen times a day. I always seem to feel dried out and sickly and I am losing muscle mass quickly. I try to work out but just feel sick and weak for several days afterward. I have been checking my blood sugar levels often and they are always in the normal range. In general I feel pretty crappy. I had an MRI about 4 years ago and the adenoma was still only about 3 mm and had not appeared to have grown. I have also noticed that my vision is increasingly blurry and I am requiring stronger reading glasses. I know this is a side effect of aging but it has changed very quickly (within the last month). I was looking at various sites and read about diabetes insipisus I seem to have many of the symptoms( but do not have high blood sugar levels..) My blood pressure is also low most of the time.. If I take a OTC sudaphed. It give me some energy since it seems to raise my blood pressure and I get to feeling better. I seldom take it because I just end up losing more weight. I have lost over 15 lbs in the last two months and most of it seems to be muscle. This is very disturbing and is making me depressed... Anyone have any suggestions or experience with diabetes insipisus? I am just trying to find some reason for all of this sudden change. I am 6'5" and currently weigh about 210. I was 234 three months ago. Even though I eat like a horse. Tanks for any help. Mark

I am looking in to having surgery at the Skull Institute, there is a doc who specialized in Puitary Tumors, you don't have to live with it, in my opinion, meds do not work, Dr Shaniasian, i can't spell his name) lol gets rid of the problems, go online to the skull website and ck it out, email me back and let me know what you think......There is hope... he is very expensive though, he is out of my network provider
