Mayo Clinic?????

Posted by macnkids @macnkids, Jul 30, 2021

I had a phone appointment with Mayo Clinic today, got up earlier than I usually do since I have ALOT of problems with sleep.
The girl was talking to me and I was telling her about having Medicare AND medicaid and wanted to know if both were accepted so she told me that you can apply for financiall aid if your income is low so I asked her for details and she asked if she could put me on hold for a couple minutes..a couple minutes later I was disconnected that was 30 minutes ago and NO CALL BACK????? What the heck happened??? I got disconnected a half hour ago and NO ONE CALLES BACK TO AT LEAST LET ME KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON!! WHAT KIND OF PROFESSIONALISM IS THAT???? IM STUNNED THAT MAYO CLINIC WOULD DO THAT! They better not charge my Medicare for that 2 minute phone call I can tell you that!!!!!

Hello @macnkids, Welcome to Connect. I'm sorry to hear you were disconnected while you were on hold. Depending on your telephone carrier the person at Mayo Clinic that you were talking with may not have your caller ID to call you back unless you gave them that info when you first started talking with them. Did you try calling them back right away after the line disconnected?

I encourage you to call the Office of Patient Experience at Mayo Clinic and let them know what happened.

Hi @macnkids, I can imagine that this is frustrating to say the least. There can be several technical reasons for your getting disconnected. I'm confident that it was not intentional. I agree with John that you can call the Office of Patient Experience. Here is the toll free phone number:
Phone: 844-544-0036 (toll free)

Alternatively, you could call the Appointment Office at the Mayo Clinic location you are working with:

Let me know if I can help further.

I have had a recent incident where I asked to have a appointment changed from Rochester to Red Wing and I was told it would be looked into and called back. Never called back but when I looked on line my appointment in Rochester was canceled, one made in Red Wing and one canceled in Cannon Falls and one changed in Cannon Falls. These were for optamolgy appointments. Now I have to call again and asked why one was totally canceled as I need them every 5 weeks. No excuses this is just sloppy customer / patient care.

Hi @lvon, I've had problems getting a normal eye exam appointment in Rochester Ophthalmology department prior to having my cataract surgery done earlier this year. I think it's because they have a very high patient load but it's not an excuse to not call back. As @colleenyoung suggested above, I would urge you to call the Office of Patient Experience. Here is the toll free phone number: Phone: 844-544-0036 (toll free)
