Maybe not PMR, but Hepatitis C?
Just started with a rheumatologist after being treated for the last two months with probable PMR. On 20-40 prednisone doses, with no real improvement of pain and fatigue symptoms. After having more blood work , being called back for more blood work to investigate possible hepatitis C , which evidently has similar symptoms as PMR. Anyone else have this brought up? Thanks.

I am so sorry to hear you are going thru this. I am sure you simply want the answer and the treatment. I had a host of non-classic PMR symptoms that made it difficult and it took a year to have mine Dx. Please keep us updated on your journey.
I do have a friend who had a transfusion decades ago before they screened for hepatitis C. He got his hep C that way. The new anti-viral drug that has been out for about 5 years helped him become "undetectable". It has given him a new life, feeling great and doing things he had not done in a while. Hang in there!

3 ReactionsI don’t understand there is a clear test for hepatitis C and your doctor should have given you a viral load test if he suspects you have it. The easy way for free to figure out if you do is go to a blood bank and donate blood if you have HEP C it’s going to show up and you will get a letter saying so that’s how I found out. I went to the doctors constantly because of the severe fatigue, and I became so depressed because my whole life shut down and it was amazing that they never had a clue to test for the virus. It’s a special test all by itself and the doctors were young, so they didn’t realize that I could’ve had an AIDS test before the time that HEP C was included. So they missed it entirely. I went to get blood cause it seemed like a great thing to do and the blood bank test for all kinds of viruses and it came up. Then I could start getting rid of it. Today there’s a whole lot of easy ways to get rid of it like a pill but when I had it in 2001 I had to go on an intensive protocol that involved in injections and pills. Today 25 years later, it’s super easy.
