Lyme Disease

Posted by sundance6 @sundance6, Dec 30, 2018

I am new to this group. I have been trying to get a diagnosis for Lyme Disease for the last six months from my doctors in my area. Since I live in the desert they say there is no way I could have it! Yet all the research I have done says you could have been infecteded many years ago and because of stress or other things it can finally apperer. It started six months ago with a sever headache then I slept for 36 of 48 hours. Had the stiff neck, joint pain, fatigue and all of the rest of the symptoms. One last symptom that was strange that I just finally found in an on line paper that said one of th symptoms was Jaw Pain or toothaches that are not related to actual tooth decay or infection. I just had a total X-Ray done by my dentist two weeks ago and there is nothing there!
I guess waht I am asking is for Help! My medical provider in my area has done every test they can on every part of my body! For thousands of Dollars! And have yet to find anything! They refuse to even consider Lyme Disease or West Nile. Yes I did have the Blood test, but it was after I had been on to regimines of Dococyclines.
Could someone please give me some help!
Friends in other states can't believe the medical care I have gotten!!

I urge you to have the Lyme Disease tests done again, now that your system is free of antibiotics. In addition, have blood tests done to check the amount of inflammation in your body/blood. If the tests for Lyme are negative and you show normal amounts of inflammation, it is likely that something other than Lyme is causing your symptoms.

I have Lyme. All tests with modern med negative until I went to a Lyme Literate MD….I encourage you to find one as the CDC does not yet recognize one coinfection as Lyme….but it is. It has almost destroyed my life.

Just FYI….Our daughter was convinced she was dying of Lyme Disease, mold toxicity and malaria and searched until she found a "Lyme knowledgeable" doctor who agreed with her even though all tests were negative. What ruined her life was following the treatment plan prescribed by this functional medicine physician….dozens of supplements, high doses of a cholesterol med and activated charcoal to "bind the toxins from her body", a $40,000 medical grade air filtration system and on and on…..all of which you can find on the internet plausibly presented as effective treatment. The doctor has been ordered by the FDA to cease and desist from using unproven experimental treatments on human subjects. The California Medical Board subsequently moved to revoke his license but he closed his practice before they could do so. Unfortunately, one patient died under his care, one suffered a stroke directly caused by the treatment and a third was hospitalized for a lengthy time as a result of his incompetence.

Our daughter's health has actually been harmed by bogus treatments and toxic combinations of so called "organic" supplements and a very reputable medical facility has proven to us that she never had Lyme Disease or mold toxicity.

I tell you this only to earn you that there are many unethical physicians out there claiming to be "experts" on Lyme Disease and mold toxicity who are doing harm instead of helping people. Be aware! Trust Mayo doctors and what they tell you!

I have just moved to Albuquerque. 21 years with Lyme (and babesia WA-1). Looking for general practitioner MD to continue my treatment of related issues. Lyme has been in remission and I believe still is. Babesia also. Anyone know of any dr. in this area?

zuzus, If you read the ABQ Journal starting on Sunday you will realize how bad we have it here. The drs. here refuse to admit that you can have Lyme here no matter where you came from our where you have lived. It is INBREED in the UNM and the PREYS. system. You can take every bit of eveidence of your symptoms with you and they will always say NO! I am convivinceed that the TriCore Labs refuse to bring a test back as positive!
If you read the paper you will also see that if you dontae $50,000 to the Preys. system you get SPECIAL TREATMENT! All they do is send you from onee of their "SPECIALSIST" TO ANOTHER for more test!
The only thing I can say is that I have evened out on the meds I am on! I am feeling better for the first time in seven months. I am afraid to stop for fear I could fall back. I talked to a good friend the other day who came from back east who had it years ago. She says it never goes away. She has different symptoms than I have had. Another friend who had Lyme the same time I came down with it still has to take days off from work because of the effects. Her drs. have not given her the same meds I have had plus I have been able to rest when needed but she has to go into work.
I wish I could give you more help on drs. If you do go on line there is a dr. lister here in ABQ and Santa Fe who say they are farmiliar with Lyme. Let me know what you find out.

The problem is systemic. Few western med dox will even acknowledge this growing issue. It life altering, taking, and unbearable at times. LLMDs are around. Find a good one. Peace.

Here is some information from the CDC that says in most cases, the tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours or more before the Lyme disease bacterium can be transmitted.

I found a tick on my shirt after visiting the Montreal Botanical Gardens, and stupidly decided to squeeze it with my fingers. About thirty minutes later I ate food with that hand without washing it. No fluid came out from the tick when I squished it. How concerned should I be?

This happened about a day ago, and I don’t have any symptoms I believe right now.

Something that most doctors won't pick up as an illness or refuse to admit it is in the area you life.
I wish I could say it is easy, but it is not. It changes your life and the way you do things. The doctors will give you drugs to help mask the symptoms, but in the end it is up to you and a doctor you trust to help ease the symptoms. I have had it for a year now. It has severely impacted my lofe. After going through drug after drug my PCD and i finally found what works the best for me.
Be aware that you will be constanly tired even if you have had a good night sleep. The research I have done says rest is the most important thing. I plan each day to take a 45 minute to one hour nap at some point. Even if I am traveling I find a safe place and rest for the time.
Stress is also a big factor that can contribute to it reacuring.
There are several good web sites that you can explore to help you better understand Lyme if you have it.
Good Luck!

@fungifun not sure anyone can answer that question but my thought is what difference does it make if the tick was in the Montreal Botanical Gardens. Not all ticks carry Lyme disease.
