I'm going to need to have a transplant soon, and I'd sure like to meet/talk to someone who has gone through it and lived.

Hi maybe you could talk to your specialist as to what to expect. Any support groups maybe of lung transplant recipients in your area that you could talk too Take care always here

I have 'lived' thru transplant, though not lungs. I have met other people who are lung transpalnt recipients and are doing well.
I am a transplant recipient, (4 years liver/kidney recipient) and doing well. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
There is also good information on transplant on the Mayo web site.
I know that the whole idea of a transplant is frightening. I hope and (with your permission) pray that all goes well for you.

Hi OldManInNeb! I received two beautiful, new lungs in April, 2000 - I will be 13 years post double-lung transplant next month. I live in Chicago - I'm guessing you're in Nebraska. I'd be more than happy to communicate with you via email. I was transplanted in Chicago at Loyola University - I am now cared for at University of Chicago. My underlying cause for the need is cystic fibrosis. I was transplanted near my 40th birthday - I am 52 now. Love, Steve

Be sure to take your vitamin D3 supplements. Studies have shown a greater propensity for lung transplant rejection in those who are vitamin D deficient.
