Low iron because of possible internal tears? I'm scared.

I have been bleeding internally a lot lately with no explanation. Now I'm anemic (7.14) and the doctor said they were thinking about a blood transfusion. Plus they want me to want me to watch my heart for any palpitations etc. I'm so scared and here I thought it was just because I'm a 46yo female going through the change.

I'm not sure what kind of tears you are talking about, and understandably you are anxious. However, a blood transfusion, if warranted, would be of great help. I experience on and off anemia, and blood transfusions have been helpful to me in the past. Sometimes it can be time consuming, but getting the transfusion should help you feel better rather quickly.
Best of luck. If you do get the transfusion, take along a book or something to do, as the first time you get a blood transfusion may take a long time.

Good morning, @myheavenlymomsearthangel. As @frances007 mentioned, don’t fear getting the transfusion. If your hemoglobin is down to 7.14 you’re feeling pretty ragged by now, with low energy, possibly feeling shortness of breath and that can cause some heart palpitations if it drops lower. A blood transfusion will help reverse all of that and get you feeling perkier again. However, there is the underlying cause to be determined.

Something else that might be relevant, there are other discussions in the Connect forum where members are experiencing unexpected low red blood counts, low iron and anemia. Their doctors are questioning internal bleeding also, leading the members to have examinations such as endoscopy and colonoscopies only to find there is no internal bleeding. Many of these people have correlated this with either a bout of Covid or with the covid vaccination.
Have you had either of the two?

You may want to read through this discussion on Covid and iron depletion to see if it sounds familiar.

Your doctors will want to pursue this further to find out why your blood numbers have dropped. Have you had a colonoscopy or endoscopy to check for internal bleeding? What other tests have you had?

Thank you both for the reply. If the blood transfusion should take place, I will be happy to go through with it then. And in even better news, no more bleeding!! I'm so happy! (Didn't want to mention that sooner because it was only about two weeks or so that it hadn't happened and at the time of this post, unfortunately it happened once more. But that was it! Thank God!) And in even more great news, I've been taking iron supplements and vitamin C and I feel like at least 65% to 70% better! But still a bit short of breath, but way better than earlier this week. I'm elated! Thank you both again, hope y'all have a blessed day, hugs, hugs.
