loss of hand coordination, muscle atrophy, weak
I am looking for answers and hopefully someone has dealt with my issues. I have lost strength in my dominate left hand. I have trigger finger, pain coming from my neck down my shoulder and pain in my arm. I have found several tender areas on my shoulder and arm. I have had several mri's and they can't find a compressed area causing this. My bloodwork is all normal. I am 55 years old. When I hold my left arm straight out it becomes heavy and I can feel the circulation being reduced. The EMG test showed carpal tunnel but I have muscle atrophy below my pinky and the hand specialist said that carpal tunnel would not cause that. I am at my witts end as I am too young to lose the capability of using my dominate hand. When I hold a pen the grip has changed due to weakness. My nerves in my forearm spasm.

kschaefer1971, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/ Jennifer Hunter knows way more about Thoracic Outlet Syndrome than I do. I did have a brachial branch nerve block, which might be helpful to you. https://www.hss.edu/health-library/conditions-and-treatments/list/thoracic-outlet-syndrome-tos That pinky finger seem like the pertinent clue.
Hi my name is Melissa I'm 54 years old I had a Brain injury July the 20th 25 and I'm still on my own cuz nobody really believes me or is just I don't know what their problem is anyways I've had the same I've had different things going on in that but a lot of different things too since it happened six days later after it happened but I wanted the things that started happening I hit my head in July and I think it was in October so or November maybe I started waking up with no it was October severe pain shooting down my forearms into my hands and my fingers for no reason it shot me out of bed and I have a high pain threshold and after that you know I've had players of that maybe four times flares I mean sorry I'm using the speaker my fingers don't work for typing anymore go figure.
So I can't really well I could if I I could put pronunciations in for ike commas and I guess
Anyway I was trying to fix that a little and then do a good job well after that that kind of went away and it's come back now not right at this point but a couple times now it's weird after a long time it's stopped and my hands just felt numb and I kept saying to people I feel like I'm using someone else's hands I remember saying that over and over again it was weird and I did and after that it kind of turned into my hands are just pretty much numb and my fingers I mean one day I accidentally definitely unplugged my Crock-Pot and lifted it out when it was still hot and it didn't hurt me at all I mean I didn't have any Burns or anything either I mean so I mean you know I kind of know what you mean as far as like pain in your neck and everything coming down I had all that they thought I'd carpal tunnel and everything else and this was back and like 2023 a day to had diagnosed and he was fibromyalgia you know because me I mean with fibromyalgia because they just my insurance isn't good and they don't want to spend more time with me so I don't even know if I have that shit but I'll probably do but yeah I mean I you know what it sounds like pain like you're having is like systematic inflammation or something I don't know I'm sorry if I'm saying the wrong thing I just wanted to comment thank you.

1 ReactionHi,
It doesn’t hurt to get 2nd opinion from a different clinic for your condition, especially if it gets worse and other complications start to disturb you as well (e.g out of breath easily).
Blood work or any scan ordered by a doctor may not be a comprehensive enough one. He/she may be focusing on a different area instead of the one which matters without realizing. I had my share of experience with a hospital here. That can happen with professionals.
I’m afraid I cannot offer anything more constructive except own experiences with professionals when dealing with my condition.
Stay strong and positive!
Cheers,
Louis

3 ReactionsSorry to go to extremes here, but could it be caused my MS? I’ve had RRMS for over 30 years, and the dominant side of my body went numb…Dr’s have seen an increase in lesions, but I keep a fairly healthy diet/exercise plan(s).
Might not hurt to ask the “what if” type of question to a neurologist, if your primary could give you a referral.

3 Reactionsthank you for responding. I have seen 4 specialists and one of them stated a possible MS but that hasn't been confirmed. All MRI's don't show anything. I am doing shockwave treatments right now and they don't seem to be helping.

Good idea. The worst thing about a stroke is that it steals your confidence...you are afraid of everything and think the worst because the stupid stroke came suddenly out of the blue ...in my case anyway. It doesn't hurt to ask and put your mind at ease if its not a possibility. If it is possible its best to know.
Hello!
I am 29 and currently in the process of being evaluated for thoracic outlet syndrome, but I also have some neurological conditions going on (Arnold Chiari malformation and neuropathy) and bilateral carpal tunnel. I have had a vascular ultra sound and bilateral MRIs of my shoulders, hands, neck and thoracic areas. My vascular surgeon is not too convinced it is TOS, though. I just wanted to write to you that I too am going through very similar symptoms, heaviness and weakness in both arms, hands and shoulders, loss of function, extreme pain, coordination and mobility. It is hard to navigate life with the loss of hands, and this kind of pain. I am no doctor, but it sounds like vascular may be your next route to look into! Since October, I have been through 12 different specialists to attempt to figure this out, with no real clarity, yet. I just want you to know you are not alone and to keep advocating for yourself during this time.
Always a message away!!
