I had a great experience at Mayo two years ago when donating my liver. The only drawback that I had was that I develped a hernia this past year under the same incision and they had to reopen the entire incision to repair the hernia. I would do it again in a heartbeat. My recepient is doing so well and it was the one of the best experiences of my lifetime.

I hope that this note finds you doing well. I have no idea where you are in the process, and I have no way of knowing what you are experiencing. But I do want to share with you that receiving the "Gift of Life" from another person is an experience that is beyond words to express. I recieved my donor organs, a liver and a kidney around 3 years ago. Each day of my life is a special gift that would not be possible without my donor (deceased). Your friend is indeed fortunate to have you as a friend! I pray that both of you enjoy long and healthy lives.
