Has anyone had the Linz procedure and what was your experience?

It was actually my Doctor and a Cardiac Surgeon plus his nutritionist that suggested I tried the diet. Fiber can be hard to digest and cause a lot of stomach distress. Genetically we are not vegetable eaters! I've posted some good books to read one by Dr Gundry, "The Plant Paradox". A lot of fruits and some vegetables have Lectins which can cause great distress. I had my procedure done at Phoenix Mayo by Dr Harold she wrote a lot of the literature on Linx when it first came out.

Yes I believe it was the fruit as I stated I was still on Ranitidine twice a day after surgery until I cut out fruit. I have recently gone on the carnivore diet and eliminated all fruit and vegetables and it has really helped my stomach!! I cannot digest fiber without gas and bloating but at least the Linx keeps the acid out of my esophagus.

Does anyone know why with Barretts esphogus the linx procedure can not be done? I have Barretts, Gerds with esophagitis. The flap from the esphogus to stomach does close, so constant back up. Been on 40 mg of Omemprazole for 5 years. I thought the linx would solve that problem . Hate to think of the side effects of the PPI'S. but my doctor says not taking them would be more harmful.

I have GERD because of a hiatal hernia and I, too, have been told not taking PPIs would be more harmful. I take one Lanzoprazole capsule at bedtime and have the head of my bed on risers. As a result, I have not needed any other OTC meds like TUMS etc. Since I have had the head of my bed raised I have had few to no reflux incidents. The bed risers can be found in any bed and linen supply store, or perhaps even on Amazon. I think I noticed them in the Dollar Tree too. They come in a set of four, but you just need to use two to place under the top two casters or legs of your bed.

I also do intermittent fasting! I haven't had a carb since the 90's but finally was able to lower my A1C from 6.2 to 5.4, previously diabetic. The intermittent fasting helped greatly but as far as stomach issues go cutting out vegetables that were hard for me to digest was big! I know this freaks people out but I'm under a doctors care and lipids are amazing! I only eat grass fed meats willd fish and no hormones or antibiotics in anything including eggs. People assume that Keto and this diet are full of processed meats but they are to be avoided.

I understand that the Linx device implanted for GERD was recalled. I am not sure when this occurred but would like to know if the recall is still in place. Did the recall include ALL of the devices manufactured up to the time it was issued? If so, any information about the status?
Is the procedure still being performed? At Mayo?

I would like to know what the current status of the Linx device and procedure is. Apparently the device was recalled several years ago. Is it still under recall? If not, is it still being used to treat GERD as an option to fundoplication with which many patients seem to be unhappy? Does Mayo perform Linx now?

I had the LINX procedure done at Mayo in Phoenix in 2014. I had to have it enlarged once and has worked good up until recently. Not sure what's going on but have chest pain after eating so bad would think I'm having a heart attack but no symptoms of one. It seems food is not passing through the device. Have coughed so bad several times that I gaged. Mayo will not take me since I haven't been there for 3 years and have gone through the process and still refuses to see me so I have no where to turn. Doctors where I live aren't familiar with the devise so not getting any help here. I have an appointment several hours away but that doctor doesn't do the surgery either, at this point would like an endoscopy to make sure there's no scar tissue or perforation. My surgery was done before it had approval and haven't seen any long term studies on this. Anyone have problems with their surgery?

@saucy Linx was first approved by the FDA in 2012, but it wasn't until 2016 that it was approved by the insurance community. Because of the 2016 date you would probably have trouble finding someone who has had it for 5 + years

I had the surgery in 2014, I know some had it done as early as 2012.

I will be having the LINX put in two weeks from now and a hiatal hernia repair. I’ll be happy to share my experience.

I would love to hear your experience with your hiatal hernia repair and LINX . The GI Surgeon I met with said he was not a fan of the LINX procedure and had had to take them out of patients that had come to him. I have great hesitation about the Fundoplication procedure. Where are you having your procedure?
Good luck!

I had my procedure done in September 2018. It was a total success! I haven’t had to take as much as one Tums since. No problems at all. Two endoscopies since.

I was having reflux 84 times a day. I went to USC and my doctor was Dr. Lipham. See YouTube for more info on him and the procedure.

I would not do the Nissan Fundiplication on a bet.
