Lactose intolerance

Posted by @diyan59 in Digestive Health, Nov 26, 2012

I am so frustrated right now. I have been to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI where I was finally diagnosed with "possible lactose intolerance". I am basically unable to eat anything and now I'm battling low blood sugar as well. I constantly feel nauseous and if I do eat and don't read labels extremely carefully, I end up with diarrhea and stomach pain. When this first started about 2 years ago, I had violent vomiting/diarrhea and dropped 40 pounds in less than 4 months. Had endoscopy, colonoscopy, HIDA scan, you name it. I weigh, at best 89 pounds and am 5'3". Does anyone have any insight? I am probably going to go back to see my NP if possible within the next week because I'm needing at least 1 glucose tab a day to get rid of the shakes, etc of hypoglycemia. Thank you. (My husband is refusing to bring me to Mayo for a possible definitive diagnosis of my problem and some family members think this is all in my head).
