Anybody heard about Alfapump for refractory ascites?
The Alfapump has been FDA-approved for commercialization since 2024. It is also eligible for Medicare/Medicate reimbursement, with an additional NTAP reimbursement.
I'm curious if anyone is aware of this or has experience with it.

Hi @renno - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Interesting that you bring up this pump, as it's been under study in a clinical trial at Mayo Clinic https://www.mayo.edu/research/clinical-trials/cls-20491495, which is now closed to enrollment.
Do you have ascites from liver cirrhosis? If so, will you share more about your condition and how it's affected you?
I'm interested in the results of using this Alfapump. It's not available in the Netherlands, so I'm very curious whether it's now available in the US, specifically at the Mayo Clinic. I understand that an additional reimbursement has become available starting October 1, 2025. If so, I may be able to take action through contact in the Netherlands. Thank you for your response.
Sincerely,
Renno
