Infectious disease doctor at NJH
I have a new ID doctor assigned at NJH Denver, Dr Jarred Eddie and would like to know,if you had him at NJH, your experience. Also I have been assigned a new pulmonologist, Dr Fuentes ( previous doctor left NJH) - what is your patient experience with him as well. Thank you

What type of insurance do you have? I tried to get a referral to NJH but my current pulmonologist said no.
In order to schedule a visit to NJH you don’t need a referral- call the main number, tell you are from out of state, you need an appointment- someone will call you for an interview. You will be directed what and where- it’s a process.

1 ReactionI have had Dr. Eddy 5 years. He is absolutely outstanding! I’m complicated as I am a kidney transplant patient. My transplant meds keep me immune compromised which creates a sort of tug of war between fighting the MAC with all the antibiotics and not rejecting my kidney. I could write a small book about the journey, but suffice to say, I’m very thankful for my care by Dr Eddy, my pulmonologist and my nephrologist.

1 ReactionI have been with Dr. Eddy for 3 years now and he has been wonderful, caring and compassionate. There are always patients who do not particularly like a doctor for various reasons, or, unfortunately, are influenced by another person's experience, but you can pretty much bet that any doctor at NJH is top notch or they would have never made it through the front door.
I am not on any medications due to side effects of the Big 3 and haven't been for 3 years, yet Dr. Eddy still sees me every 6 months for an evaluation. I have frequent hemoptysis and he has contacted me personally or through the portal to support me as I travel this road of MAC/BE and a rare lung fungal infection.
If you need support outside a lung condition, he will recommend adding another specialist to your team. Mine happens to be a NJH gastro doctor due to silent GERD, which contributes to my lung condition. I am stable and functioning and following the suggested protocols and hope to be around for a very long time, diseases or not! I wish you well!
@pmmar1 thank you for your response. I am always anxious to change doctors- you never know if it’s for better or worse. Your opinion counts. Thank you. It will be my third pulmo at NJH ( two left) and I am assigned for the coming visit to Dr Fuentes. I had Dr G as my ID but my last visit was really upsetting ( few times on the phone, left the room to answer the phone asking and giving me a brinsupri brochure to go through its side effects) I felt not taken care of as a patient especially one who makes these long trips to see a doctor. I hope I will be in good hands if Dr Eddy.
@susanrg20 Be sure to understand how your insurance works if you call to make an appointment. I had Medicare Original and a Supplement Plan...I did not need a referral and all was very much paid for by both.
If you have an Advantage Plan, Plan C. be sure of all the financials for yourself. NJH Financial Dept. should be able to help you understand all that.

@lilianna When Dr. McShane left Tyler and I mentioned I might go back up to NJH she mentioned Dr. Eddy. So with what you have heard above....he may be the one....and sounds like he is there to stay...hopefully. I am glad you mentioned your last experience....we need to hear all of our experiences be it at NJH or other facilities. Gives us food for thought and much is learned from hearing all. Also, how do we tell them, nicely of course, we do not appreciate their not giving us the attention that it required for ones full care and understandings ?????
