In the last five weeks I have had two emergency surgeries for a detached retina with Dr. Quinlan of Retinal Consultants in Peoria, Arizona. I feel I have received excellent care. With the first surgery, I had a scleral buckle and gas bubble placed around by retina; when the bubble dissolved after three weeks, my retina re-detached and I had to undergo another emergency surgery where oil was placed around my retina. My vision improves every week and I feel fine, coping with oil in my eye, which is due to be removed the end of May (remains in the eye for 3 months) this will be another surgery. My exam on Friday found scar tissue beginning and this is a cause for concern because if it grows, it may re-detach my retina, and I may face another emergency surgery. I'm being followed every 5-6 days. Has anyone experienced this condition and seen someone at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale that they would refer, as I may seek second opinions? Thank you.
