Immunocompromised with transplants and Vaccines- LEFT OUT

Posted by bosco17 @bosco17, Mar 15 5:39am

We seem to be left out of everybodies studies WHAT IS THE % OF Immunity we will get from these vaccines

There is an active study ongoing at Johns Hopkins University. Preliminary results are available and may indicate less effectiveness for an immuno-compromised recipient but the study is not over. Let's not jump to conclusions just yet. I will quote my doctors at Mayo, the effectiveness of the vaccine is certainly at zero if you do not take it and taking it appears to not harm you. So take it. I am waiting for my second shot on April 1.

As a side note if the vaccines are less effective for "us" then it is even more critical for those around us to be vaccinated.
Best always,

I registered and put it in my calendar, did you @athenalee? If visible maybe I'll see you there. This is such an important topic for us, it really is about what we can safely do and what we still need to avoid. I find the whole thing quite depressing, I was hoping to have more freedom but I'm thinking I will probably not. 😢

Oh yah. Submitted a couple questions. I’m hoping a lot of us transplant people join as we need to be heard! As you said as well, the results from their research following participants after receiving the second shot should be more hopeful. And, I’ve read that it’s not just the antibodies which will help us, so hopefully they’ll share info on that. Vermont does have a high rate of folks who’ve said they will get vaccinated and I know my friends have or will soon be vaccinated. So, I am more hopeful about at least being able to hang out with people and to enjoy outdoor meals and music. With mask no doubt…😷

I have registered but my guess is it is just audio. The preliminary results are less than what we would like. I expect the webinar will give us more information/stratification with respect to drug performance, age of patient, etc.
Best always,
