I'm 71 and a 19 year survivor of breast cancer. A few years ago i started itching in my vulva area. After going to one doctor, given cream and shown no concern I assumed that the itching and dryness was just because I was getting older.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I found a small bump at the back of my vagina. Two weeks ago I had surgery to remove it. On my follow-up apt. (a week ago) my doctor said I had vulvar cancer although he thinks he got it all. I have an appointment with an oncologist that specializes in this type of cancer. I have been told that most likely my lymph nodes in my groin will be removed and checked to see if it is anywhere else. At this point I don't know if I will have to have further treatment. It is pretty upsetting to learn that this kind of cancer is never talked about in fact I wonder if most women have ever heard of it. In the day and age that is just unacceptable!! @dearannie2000
