I'm looking for others diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I'm new to this group as well as the disease but have high hopes!

I was having severe diarrhoea and vomiting. After having a colonoscopy the doctor informed that he found multiple chronic ulcers. He think it's Crohns and not ULcerative Colitis... I am taking Melasamine since a month.. Any suggestions of what to eat and what not to eat? I am avoiding spicy food, and concentrating on fruits and yougurts.. And is there a cure for this?

Actually any food that works for one patient might not work for another. So the best thing to do is to keep a Food, Feelings, Symptoms (FFS) Diary. Just google to find a sample.

By keeping a such a diary you'll be able to review your intake over the past 3days when you are feeling sick. Then one by one you can eliminate possible triggers. Strangely, a food that works for me at one time might not work another time. So when I'm feeling even a little sick I will reduce /eliminate all milk & milk products, spicy stuff! Oily food, pizza type processed food etc.

Wishing you the best, do post if you have other queries.

My granddaughter has had to use the trial and error method. Everyone is different, what some can eat others cannot. The only treatment that has worked for her is the infusions. Once she started them she has gone longer between flair-ups.

Thanks for the info, had never heard of it. I've checked and read a bit this morning. Have you or someone you know tried it...just curious.

Wondering how your journey has been with crohn's since such an early age...

I too was diagnosed with crohns approx 20 yrs ago. Still struggle at times. currently not taking meds but i thnk i may be heading for a flare up. The last few days i've been having pain, spasms, bloating and diarrhea. i'm in between gastro docs because of insurance changes. The biggest problem that recurs with me is severe iron deficiency anemia. i require infusions of iron intra venously , because oral iron doesn't work and it makes g.i. symptoms worse.

Does that mean you were well enough for docs to stop meds? I thought once on certain meds we need to take them for life! I hope your flare isn't a strong one and you stay positive to get over best wishes for you

I'm on Pentasa & Budesonide for the past 3months and will be taken off Budesonide in two days. I must confess that I'm worried that I'll have a flare.

Although, the dosage has been steadily reduced from 3 tabs to one and no major issue, pls tell me I'll be fine...

I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago. It's so hard and scary. I read about people having surgeries and I have been researching the side effects of all the meds. They all seem so scary. I had learned to live with my symptoms and have considered not doing meds to avoid the side effects. But even in these past few weeks Budesonide has made me feel human again. It's a scary thing but its always so nice to know you aren't alone.
