I have just been diagnosed with acute heart failure and am wondering what that means exactly?

I am 60 year old female who was just treated for acute heart failure..is it the same as congestive heart failure? I have heard both. I had fluid backed up into the lungs and edema so severe it was splitting the skin. Does anyone know if this gets better? What do they do for it? Should I go to a cardiologist as recommended?

Was your heart failure not treated by a cardiologist? If not, you should call one immediately!

Sitting in cardiologist clinic this morning, and told I might need a pacemaker. I'm the type that will put stuff off until the signs and symptoms get worse or life threatening like a blood pressure of 226/125 , in heart failure and still pouring on the salt and and eating fried foods . I must change my whole outlook on living and eating healthy .I want to Live....... 53 year old and growing.

It is very important to follow the recommendations from your cardiologist. You need to know why you suffer acute heart failure. Life style changes is a must. Work together with your doctor and get consultation from a nutritionist. You need to get support. If only you are willing to change and improve your health, your doctor can help you. Feel well.
