I have had shingles following the Shingrix vaccine.
I have been to 7 doctors and 3 Pa's for help. It keeps coming back. Relying on Emergency room currently for Valacyclovir and prednisone. Swelling and rash, itching over 50 per cent of my face. What should I do? What type of doctor should deal with this? I live in Charlotte North Carolina. My health care Provider is Atrium.

Ask for a dermatology consult. The eruption can be tested when it is apparent for a viral culture. It is possible to have varicella zoster virus after Shingrix.
It can also be Herpetic type.

1 ReactionI have this quote but haven't the link
A transient increase in shingles presentations was observed following dose 1 of recombinant zoster vaccine in adults aged ≥65 years, with no increased risk of postherpetic neuralgia and strong evidence of vaccine effectiveness after 2 doses
Shingrix isn't a live vaccine, so your body is reacting to the prompt (miserably) but without danger of neuralgia.
I hope this is your second injection because the second can be worse than the first. 21 days "they" say.
You might see a dermatologist or call the prescribing doctor.
Thank you! It was my first shot. I plan on seeing a new dermatologist.

1 ReactionI had shingles come on after months of hand and arm pain which subsided after the shingles arrived and my hip and stomach area. This was last November and after about 12 weeks, they were all pain left, however numbness and random discomfort continued in the hip area. Today, I still have some numbness in addition about two weeks ago. I had lesions arrive on my upper right shoulder. I was led to believe that reoccurring shingles would arrive in the same location. Is it possible that these lesions on my shoulder is a Shingles outbreak?
I dictated this last comment. Sorry for the typos.
