I have been diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis

Posted by @rj, Mar 13, 2016

I have been diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis and would like feedback from others who have had Laminectomy surgery and what experiences they had and what problems like blood clot formation, minimally invasive vs regular surgery.

Hi @rj , welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I’m one of the community moderators here. I did find some information about laminectomy surgery to treat Spinal Stenosis here: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/spinal-stenosis/basics/treatment/con-20036105. If you click around a little on that page, you’ll find some more information that might be helpful, like ways to help manage the pain at home.

I also want to connect you with @cheryliowa and @moth. They’re both living with Spinal Stenosis and might be willing to share their own experiences with you. The most important thing is knowing that you’re not alone!

When were you diagnosed? Have you talked to your doctor about the laminectomy surgery?

Hi @rj – I’m Alyse, and I’m another community moderator on Connect. I found a few more members who have had a similar experience and who have talked about a Laminectomy surgery, as well as recovery.

I’d like to connect you with @karenfinnestad and @bobford. You can find more on their journey here (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/laminectomy-recovery/).
