I was diagnosed with osteo six years ago. Any suggestions on possible treatment?

I have been diagnosed with osteo for the last 6 years. Both knees need to be replaced and I have spinal stenosis in my back. Six months ago I had a pulmonary embolism. My three sisters and I have very similar physical problems. Our mother seems to also have had the same issues and now is in a wheel chair, basically an invalid. My specialist is reluctant to replaced my knees or go back to giving me synvisc injections. My main treatment is Lyrica and Tramadol – any suggestions or possible treatment? I do some light land exercise and water therapy.
