I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis and I can’t understand how to change my diet. I also have crippling contractions in my lower abdominal area and upper right quadrant of my body that my gastroenterologist cant seem to diagnose. I have had two upper endoscpies to no avail. I dont know what to do.

Hi Karen,

I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through! We’re not able to make specific treatment recommendations online, but we do have some tips regarding the dietary changes you can make to help manage the symptoms. Check out this link, and feel free to reach out with any other questions: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-living/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/diverticulitis-diet/art-20048499

Hello Karen, Do you think drinking warm and hot liquid only and avoid cold drinks will help? Would you also find out if eating gluten free foods may help with reducing the symptoms of diverticulitis? How about write down what you eat each day and see if it makes any differences on the days comparing the foods you eat, eliminate the foods you eat that make you feel worse for the days, and try to find the foods that make you feel better for the days? Feel well!
