I have been diagnosed with CKD since 2009. I have my blood pressure under control and have reduced my sodium intake but now have to limit my potassium intake. I also need to lose weight. Issue – I was doing so much better by changing and eating more fruits and vegetables and legumes. Now with the need to watch my potassium intake because of the addition of a potassium sparing medication I am discouraged. It is a challenge to find good information on the potassium content of foods and recipes. – the resource I received was a handout on foods that are high and low in potassium. It is hard to believe that I should not eat legumes now or whole grains and so many more healthy foods ! Can you please assist me with suggestions and resources. Thank you – this is so important to me because I want to keep my kidneys functioning and prevent the need for dialysis.
