I am wondering how I can be admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for depression.

Hi @mikey155734. Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect – my name is Rebecca. The best way to make an appointment at Mayo Clinic, including St. Mary’s is through this link http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63 or by calling 507-538-3270. Here at Connect, we do our best to connect you with other people who have been through a similar experience and know how it feels – you don’t have to go through this alone.

If at any point you start to feel like you may consider hurting yourself, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 for immediate help. Your safety is the most important thing to us and needing to talk to a professional doesn’t show weakness, it shows strength!

Can you tell me a little more about yourself? Have you been treated for depression before?

Hi @mikey155734 – depression is never a fun battle. The mere fact that you reached out to us speaks wonders about who you are inside. Don’t ever give up the good fight. I know what it’s like to feel trapped in a deep, dark cavern barely able to breathe… but with the right support and training, you too can climb out and make a difference again in life.

You’re not alone my friend, I promise. If you have the opportunity, please go to St. Mary’s Hospital right away, but try to go with a friend or family member. Going with someone else will help the recovery process. Be true to yourself and say exactly what’s on your mind, now is not the time to hold back, you owe it to yourself to seek the proper help. The best way to get the help you need is being as honest as you can be.

I know what you’re going through, I’ve been through it myself. It’s not easy that’s for sure, but it will get easier I promise.

If you ever need to chat, just click on my name @mlemieux and send me a private message anytime. I’m always around and will be there to listen.

Take care of yourself.

Regards,
Martin R. Lemieux
