I am 69 years old, was diagnosed with wet macular degeneration (right eye only) December 2011. I had 1 Avastin Intravitreal injection per month for 3 months; there was no improvement. I was not informed prior to injections that Avastin was not FDA approved for macular degeneration. I was very upset because the opthalmologist did not advise me of this beforehand , when I asked why he didn’t use an FDA approved injection he said “its very expensive.” Now he wants to begin monthly (newly FDA improved) Eylea injections. I was told by a friend that the FDA approved Lucentis injections, althgough expensive, is best. Please share your thoughts/experience. @auntieforever
