Hypothyroidism

Posted by P.Speers @pspeers, Oct 4, 2011

I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and prescribed medication. Has any of you heard about ways to get the thyroid gland to work well again?

Hypothyroidism is very common in women, esp as we age. This is nothing to get too concerned about but certainly understand you want to do whatever you can to make the gland function better. Talk w your doctor about iodine and ask for an iodine test (urine) to see where your levels are at. You should be feeling much better now that you are supplementing with thyroid medicine. Most importantly, be sure to keep your drs appts, be proactive, educate yourself and take control of your health.

Also, be sure your dr has checked your TPO. This is a blood test to check for thyroid antibodies. Sometimes, this condition causes hypothyroidism.
