Hypothermia anyone?
Today after getting good news from cardio, i went outside to do seated yoga and meditate. Before i started, i made call to my bf to share my good news. I felt slightly chilled suddenly and my eyeballs felt frozen. My pulse was 55. Hung up with bf and went up to my home to check my temp...94.6 i have had this incomprehensible hypothermia since the first month i was hit with LC 3 yrs 9 months ago. I proceeded to climb under blankets with my cat and did palming with my hands on eyes to warm them up which i learned at OT with neuro institute penn med. 15 min later temp was 97.4. I ate some food to warm up my esophagus which still felt cold. Took temp 101.6 lol my temp is now normal and i took long nap. Apparently the strain of covid that u contracted can produce this phenotype. I spoke with triage nurse at neuro and am waiting on guidance. Has anyone else experienced this and do u have any advice u can give me? This is just beyond bizarre. I have been accused of making this up lol fortunately my new drs believe me.

Hi @pdoubrava. I so relate. Taking pics of your unusual temp readings or anything else you can visually show like bp, heart rate, rash, swelling, bruising, vessel damage……at least helps others “see”. I have my electric blankets, even 110 summer, where I live laying now on my throne 🤣 and ice packs to help with throwing off blankets when needed in no heat on winter🙃 I have not found answers and just go with it so hope your journey finds them with quickest healing possible🌈

2 Reactions@law59 these symptoms are just so bizarre. My cardiologists gave me new diagnosis of inappropriate sinus tachycardia. Referred back to electrophysiologist and have consulted with neuros office. Our long covid neuro is out of office for another week but they have a compassionate nurse communicating with neuro in office. Validated that i dont have to run to ER when i experience hypothermia. I have to try hard not to let that happen again. Next step is getting the ME/CFS and PEM diagnoses. Right now i am experiencing a crash bigtime. Barely eating and almost completely bedridden. I did unload dishwasher this am and lo and behold finally took a shower. Showering has been challenging for me from the beginning. Its the standing in one place and heat/humidity. I love heated blankets btw...i have one too...my cat Bentley. Thank u for ur response. Sending good energy ur way!!

1 ReactionNo one else I know has had these symptoms. I have ALWAYS run hot. Grew up in SF and never owned a coat- sweaters and windbreakers only-IF I wore them. But my temp was a very standard 98.6 unless I was sick which would first dip by a point or two then rise. Got every childhood illness chickenpox, measles, (no rubella), mumps and occasional colds and Mono with strep in 5th grade.
Starting at the very beginning of the pandemic, I came down with symptoms that I later came to recognize as COVID 19. The major effects I had were high fever, aches, SORE THROAT, and upper respiratory symptoms- nothing notable in the lungs. After 2 months I finally tested and they said it was epstein-barr. This was before they had any accurate COVID 19 testing. Afterward, my temp never went back to normal. I have had 2 vaccines which I thoroughly regret because my 2nd and 3rd cases of COVID 19 lab verified were worse than the first.
At this time, my normal ranges between 97.3 and 96.5 but I am constantly overheating, even at those body temperatures. The scary part is when I start feeling off, getting achy, then chilling. If I think to take my temp, it will be anywhere from 94.5 to 95.3. An immediate warm bath is my solution and a hop into bed to take a little rest. Then my temp goes back to 95.3+ and I feel hot. BTW, I am way past menopausal-69.

2 ReactionsHey, I feel what you're going through... any exertion and I start to heat up, then sweat, feel sick and then monitor my temperature as it drops as low as 92.9. I have to patiently wait to get any energy back, then start the ordeal over...

2 ReactionsOof! I have always tended to run low, but now my temperature goes up with exertion - as high as 101 at times. I had a thermoregulatory sweat test at Mayo a few months ago and they confirmed that I don't sweat, so my body can't lower my temperature when I work hard or get too warm. No one really paid any attention until I talked with the neurologist at Mayo she was able to diagnose the problem and give counsel on how to handle it.
Strange how LC affects our bodies' ability to regulate temperature, in various different ways, isn't it? I'm so sorry - I hope you are able to find some answers. I would suggest neurology, if you have access to a good one. The local neurologist I went to here was no help - it took a super-specialist like Mayo's to focus mine out.
