How does one advocate for themselves at Mayo

Posted by @joellen in Bones, Joints & Muscles, Sep 12, 2011

I am 42 year old mother and have been dealing with both knee and ankle issues. I had knee surgery to fix my left knee acl in 2005 and have been dealing with ankle issues since then. I am able to see a knee doctor at the end of this month but was turned down by an ankle doctor. My one ankle has loss range of motion and is concerning me more than my knees at this point. How do I further advocate for myself so I do not need to make multiple trips? Thanks.

Use you knee as a starting point to get in. Once there, insist on seeing the anke specilist. Getting in, is the fist and largest hurdle.
