How do you get the local osteo enhancement procedure?:
I posted a couple of months ago about something I've been interested in for a year or more, every since reading about it - the 'local osteo enhancement procedure." They put some sort of filler - sounds like the glue they use in backs, but probably a little different - in your bones and it makes them dense again. You can avoid the drugs and it works faster. One of the comments by the doctors was women weren't taking the drugs (duuh).
I contacted the company to see what trials you had to get in to get this thing and the good news is - ok it's a schelp - it's already approved in Europe. They offered to send me a list of doctors in the different countries and I wrote back that I wanted a complete list.
I'm ready to do it. I don't want to take the drugs and yet the limited life of someone who has to always worry she might break something - and could break something even if she gives UP all the fun things like skiing and skating - is not something I want either.

@sl303, I thought I would add a link to the information about the procedure so that others can learn how it works. Like you mentioned it is not currently FDA approved for use in the U.S.

7 ReactionsThat sounds very promising! I hope at some point it will be used to strengthen vertebrae as well.
This is great news. I just read no side effects were reported and they did a large international study. Everyone with mild bone loss should hold out for this procedure.

3 Reactions@dvargo yes, it sounds amazing, only problem it's not FDA approved for the U.S. or Canada.
I haven't read anywhere when it will be FDA approved for U.S. or Canada either..
If anyone has heard when FDA approval for US or Canada is supposed to be, please comment.

thanks for the link to the original research on AGN1. It gives a hope! I have tried to understand where the research was performed, especially in view of the fact of its not being approved by the FDA, but being approved in Europe (according the information provided in this thread). Interestingly, the majority of authors are from AgNovos Healthcare, Rockville, USA, while one Engelke K. is from German university. In Europe usually we have more difficult and slow process for approving new technologies and medicines. So, where the research was done? Any idea?

1 Reaction@melia7 I'm not really sure where the research was done or if it's still ongoing. Here's a 2023 reference that talks about the clinical trials -
"The Company has activated more than 30 study sites across Japan, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands and Austria. RESTORE is expected to include more than 50 study sites and enroll at least 650 patients."
