High Cholesterol: how do you control it?
I have very unusual cholesterol scores. Both are high. My Doctor says not to worry because the good is high and outweighs the bad. Here are the numbers cholesterol is 270 LDL is. 164 HDL 70.6. Do I just not worry like my Doctor said? Any ideas?

I would get a second opinion because that seems high. I went on generic Crestor with lower readings
@12134 My triple by Pass was 23 yrs ago since then I've been on different. Satin to bring my cholesterol down including Crestor nothing really helped it still would go high the nlow .After researching about plaque in the system I read that
cholesterols not the culprit so I dont worry anymore my Dr is happy if it stays under 200 the key is your lifestyle exercise in modration, strength
training eating a Mediterranean diet , olive oil and vinegar in dressings regular sleeping hours. Just getting out in nature all this keeps you healthy This is what I've done for Last 23 years an my heart is in excellent condition according to my last chemical stress test 2,yrs ago My Dr. is good with it so for me this is my experience.

May I ask if you suspect anything in particular that may have led to this diagnosis? Did your doctor recommend any diet and lifestyle changes that you need to make?
I'm rechecking my current health record, it says hyperlipidemia, but doesn't list my hdl and ldl results. I recently went to the dietitian at the local grocery store, took a tour and she pointed out the brands of food to purchase to reduce cholesterol. I loved that. She showed me some chicken apple bourbon sausage for example that is yummy. I was wondering if others had ideas to increase the fiber in our diets. cut the fat.
@Erinmfs I also have high cholesterol the best fiber comes from Beans black beans are higher the others There is a website https://www.activebeat.com that has alot of information on it but beans are a good source
@lioness Thank you! I am not a bean fan, but Maybe I can learn to like them? do you have a black bean recipe that you really like?
@Erinmfs Any beans are good but I like rice and black beans with the spice cumin ,there are other ways to fix them like a black bean salsa ,and more but mine is black bean and rice
I too am not a bean fan – but I have learned to like garbanzo beans (also known as chick peas) – either tossed in a salad or made into hummus. Also, I find red beans easier to like than the black ones, especially in chili. White beans – cannelini or navy beans are good in soup. My Mom used to really cook them to mush, in potato soup, and us kids couldn't even taste them.
I was searching for black bean and rice recipes and remembered a favorite dish in the Bahamas, red beans and rice. Red beans and rice is made with sausage, so I ruled that out.
@Erinmfs OH yes I forgot about salad back beans, corn ,arugala tomatoes and fav.dressing I use Navy beans and ham in soup.
