I tore my rotator cuff beyond repair. I've lost so much that I loved.

Hi, I’m new to the discussions. I have been in severe pain for about a year and a half since I tripped on a clump of snow and landed on my left shoulder. I tore my rotator cuff beyond repair. My only option was a reverse shoulder replacement/prosthetic. I’ve been on pain meds and muscle relaxers, been to every type of physical and occupational therapy you can imagine and nothing has helped. I’m almost house bound. I’m considering the Pain Rehab Center at Mayo in Rochester. Anyone out there tried it? Want to share your experience? I’m a bit hesitant to wean off pain meds. I’ve tried that this past summer and it didn’t go too well. It really makes my blood pressure go up high when I’m I pain and I don’t want to start taking meds for that! I know there’s a lot of people in a lot worse situations than me, but I’ve lost so much that I loved and enjoyed before I fell. The hardest things are not being able to hug my daughter because the drive is too far, and not being able to teach my fourth graders. That was my life. I could go on and on, but it’s time to go outside for some fresh air. It’s a nice day here. Thanks for reading my story:)

Hi @karenamarcon – thanks for sharing your story! Does anyone have a personal experience with rehab that they could share?
