Hello, I am writing on behalf of my brother who has been suffering from episodes of severe stomach pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Pain is an intense burning pain like if they were burning a hole through his stomach as he describes it, that cripples him he can’t talk and almost passes out and lasts for hours or days. The pain is in the middle of his upper stomach which is accompanied by uncontrollable vomiting. He is very sensitive to food smells which make him so nauseous that triggers constant vomiting along with the pain. He has been suffering from this for many years and he has been to all kinds of doctors and hospitals and through all kinds of tests and nothing yet has been discovered. About four years ago during one of the episodes the hospital said his Gall Bladder was not functioning properly and they recommended that he remove it which he did but after the operation he went back to having severe stomach pain but now the pain was more of a burning pain in the middle of his stomach which prior to the operation it was a stabbing pain on the side of his stomach. Since then he has been in out of hospitals on pain patches and nausea medications. For the last couple of years the episodes had not flared up but recently and as I write this note he is back in the hospital and has been there for over a week with the symptoms. If there is anyone please that can help or provide guidance or knows of anything that can help us I would be so grateful if you could please share. Thank you

Hi @jorgerc, I’m sorry to hear what your brother is going through. We’re not able to provide treatment recommendations online, but I have reached out to a Mayo Clinic physician in hopes that they might be able to help. I should have some more information for you shortly.
