Have you had MUA on your knee months after TKR?
F 77, Almost 2 years post TKR, can do most active things tennis, golf, pickleball. But walking, standing and hiking are a challenge now as the knee is so tight. Is painful, wakes me up at night. When I bike I feel every rotation of the pedal for the first 7 miles before it gets better. The tightness is probably from the scar tissue. Most of what I have read was MUA were done shortly after surgery. My ROM was at 110° so was not considered. But I do want more bend. Has anyone had a MUA this far out from surgery? And if so, did it work.

I had LTKR 15 months ago. At 3 months I could barely get to ROM of 110. I did pre op PT for 7 months and was able to get my ROM back to 130. going in to surgery. Post surgery I struggled with excessive swelling, pain and scar tissue formation. My surgeon did not feel I was a candidate for MUA and said no. I felt that my ROM would decline with time due to the pain and scar tissue and my lifestyle was severely compromised. We talked for an hour and at the end of our conversation he agreed to do the MUA. This was right at the 3 month point. I worked very hard for months and my ROM has gotten to 138 with the strap and 130 without. I will continue to do stretches etc. for the rest of my life. They tell you that the 3 month period is the end of the time to do an MUA, but I have read that people do it much later. Not sure of the success ratio. What does your surgeon say?
