Harvard University Ext. Sch. Prostate Cancer & Mental Health Study

Posted by geg949 @geg949, Jan 9 6:03pm

I am recruiting participants for a new study which will explore the relationship between undergoing prostate cancer treatment and mental health outcomes. It will also look at the role of identity in this relationship and as an important component includes men who have not been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

You can participate if:
• you are a man of any age who has undergone prostate cancer treatment
• you are a man aged 40-99 who has not been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The online survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and if you are interested in participating, you can join the study by clicking the link below. Alternatively you can also scan the QR code imbedded in the image below.

If you are interested in participating, please do so as soon as possible as recruitment ends on January 21st.

To help advance the understudied field of male mental health, please be so kind and let other men in your network know about this study.

Please also note that this study includes some questions that pertain to sexuality and that some may consider sensitive.

Please note that responses collected during the study will be anonymous.

HI Round5,
This is Gabrielle, the principal investigator of the study and this is absolutely legitimate study which has been approved by Harvard University Institutional Review Board. I completely understand your apprehension, I had to ask permission and be approved by the administrator before being allowed to post here. Not sure this helps, but if you check below the image above, you can see the reaction which was posted by the administrator.
Please let me know if this does not address your concern and I can also reach out and ask for administrator to confirm.
By the way, thank you for considering participating in this study. Men's mental health is an understudied topic and as result, every man's responses are very valuable.
Kind Regards
Gabrielle

No problem, those of us unfortunate enough to travel this path should take the time to share our experience so those that follow may have a better path!

That is very thoughtful. It is my sincere hope and intention that the work that I am doing now will benefit not only those who follow, but also the men who are impacted right now.
Wishing you all the best and if you like, keep an eye out late summer/early fall. I will share the results of this study with the Mayo Clinic team so they can make them available to anyone who is interested.

I wanted to take a moment and thank all the men who have taken the time to participate in the study. Everyone's responses are very valuable and appreciated. Due to high interest, the study will remain open for participation until February 5th to allow time for anyone who still wishes to participate to do so and I am reposting the original information below.

Big thank you also to the Mayo Clinic team for their support of this project. It has made a big difference.
