Granulomatosis with polyangiitis - corneal endothelium inflammation

Posted by maira_bonini @maira_bonini, Mar 12, 2019

Hello! My name is Maíra, I'm from Brazil and I was diagnosed with Wegener's in 2010 (nose and lungs).
I'd like to know if some of you or the Mayo Clinic doctors have ever seen GPA causing corneal endothelium inflammation. I've an lesion in my right eye corneal endothelium and the doctors here have never seen GPA causing this, but they say it can happen. C ANCA 1/160. Tks!

Hi @johnbishop, thank you for your help!
The doctors told me to use a dexamethasone ophtalmic suspension 4 times a day, increase immuran to 200mg/day (I was with 50mg/day for 2 years) and pred 20mg/day. We are waiting the ophtalmologist decision to start rituximab. The ophtalmologist is in doubt between this lesion being a GPA manifestation or an autoimmune reaction to herpes.
I've some photos of the lesion.. do you have an e-mail? Thanks again

Hi Maira @maira_bonini, I am a volunteer mentor for Mayo Clinic Connect and have no medical training or background so am unable to offer advice or suggestions other than sharing my own personal health experiences. I have several autoimmune conditions but none involve the eyes yet ☺. I did find an interesting article that may be helpful for you. You may want to post your question in the GPA granulomatosis with polyangiitis discussion in the link in my first post above.
