Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia Diagnosis

Posted by @lvkroy, Aug 14, 2015

Recently diagnosed with Glossopharyngeal Neuraglia. Had been being treated for migraines since March 2012 apparently not my problem to begin with. All of this started after a violent sneezing fit on March 26, 2012 and life has never been the same. Weening off migraine prevention meds and Neurologists wants me to take Carbamazepine ER. Very scared to started yet another medicine. Can’t understand if this is caused by a pinched nerve why that can’t just be fixed and not have to take medication that is doing nothing but covering up the pain? At my wits end. At it’s worst I also get the hole syscope thing and feel very faint like I am going to pass out. Family history of vagus vagal issues to begin with so I think this is just making it worse.

Hi @lvkroy,
How is the weaning off the migraine prevention meds going? It can be a long process. Did you talk to your doctor about not wanting to take medication and that you felt it was just covering up the problem?

Would love to get an update on how things are going.
