glaucoma

Posted by charlena @charlena, Aug 2, 2018

My husband was just diagnosed with glaucoma. We are interested in knowing what meds have been prescribed by your doctors. Also, what type of action plan has your doctors implemented, if any? Look forward to your responses. Thank you!

Hello @charlena, thank you for posting. I would like to introduce you to @peach414144 who also has been diagnosed with glaucoma. Hopefully she will have some insight for you and your husband.

Have a good day!

I’ve had glaucoma for years. Does your husband have any vision damage or only increased Intraocular pressure?
I took drops for years to lower my pressures. First I used Lumigan/Bimatoprost but it was very expensive so switched to Xalatan/ Latanoprost. Both kept my pressures down.
After I had cataract surgery my pressures remained low without any drops. Although not at first both medications eventually cashed burning, slightly blurred vision and my worst side effect was foreign object feeling. I was insistent there was something in my eye. My Mom also took the same medication but never had the foreign object feeling.
Wishing you both the best of health.

I had no foreign body sensation until an opthamalogist removed a cataract from the eye and placed in an interocular lens. Then and only then did I have (and still do) have a foriegn body feeling in the eye. Quite painful at times and then is when I started to lose my eyesight. I also need help. (Remove the lens??????????)No one wants to address this very serious problem) My other eye has been blind since birth which leaves my in a horror world. HELP PLEASE.

My friend only has 5% of the optic nerve left in one eye due to glaucoma and his physician did not sent him to a specialist in time. A specialist inserted a drain or he would not even have the 5%. The other eye is totally gone. Is there anything being researched to improve the optic nerve???
