How can I stay healthy at social gatherings during Flu season?
My liver transplant was 4 years ago this coming April. With flu season here I was wondering how to go about handling a large emotional family funeral with a weakened immune system. Handshakes, hugs, kisses – it all makes me a little paranoid. How do I attend without appearing aloof and non-caring?

@rosemarya this would be a good article to put on Facebook too. I would put the MGH info out there but it’s not a link, it’s in a letter on the portal. Unfortunately there are some who actually think this is a political hoax and not real! It’s very unfortunate that our country has be so divided that people are so skeptical of real health warnings.

@contentandwell @rosemarya my husband left today for a three week vacation to Thailand. I don't know how to protect myself if he contracts the virus. I don't really have any place to go.
@gaylea1 That is sort of frightening. Hopefully he will come home virus free. If he has the virus he will be quarantined though so you probably don't have to worry about being exposed. I believe they are checking everyone coming into this country before they are released from the airport. I'm sure you would have loved to have gone also but I'm glad you didn't. Too risky.
JK
@contentandwell they're only screening those who have travelled to China.
@gaylea1. I thought that had extended to other Asian countries. Hopefully he will arrive home just fine.

There are quite a lot of cases in Thailand. It's not so much the country as the air flight path that takes him through several other countries ie Germany etc.
I know but he has many stop overs in different countries before arriving and departing Thailand.

@gaylea1, How are you getting along? Will you be having the stent removed tomorrow as planned, or has it been rescheduled?
Did husband go to Thailand?
And most important – I am thinking of you at this stressful time in our lives.
A new discussion has been posted – You are invited.
COVID-19 in Transplant Patients

@rosemary my ERCP was cancelled (just today) due to the halt on elective surgery here in Ontario. My husband left last Saturday for Thailand and I haven't heard from him since Tuesday. Things are heating up here in Canada but they haven't stopped flights into the country from Europe. Almost all the cases here have come from travellers but nothing is being done. I plan to relocate prior to his return so that he can self isolate for two weeks. Schools, libraries all recreational events have of course been cancelled. For us though, this hand washing, non touching, distancing is a way of life anyway. Welcome to our world people!
