Hi, i just joined the forum. have been suffering with severe fatigue for several years. having a bad spell of it this eve with weakness and shakiness in my arms as well. feel my life is getting smaller and smaller. I want so much to live my life to the be the best mom i can make a difference; but i feel so drained that i am either faking it ( which is impossible on the really bad days) or in the bed. I dont want to watch life pass me by. Anyone relate?? God bless!!

Hi, I'm a mom too and am sorry to read about your fatigue. What does your doctor say? Are you on any medication? It's no fun to see life passing you by so maybe you can share a bit more and figure out what to do. 🙂 You are not alone!

thank you so much. I am on medicines for low thyroid and depression. i also take tons of vitamins and try to stay up with latest research findings. doctor really has no other suggestions other than, ' i may feel better on a gluten-free diet'. i have no gi symptoms and have not had the energy to undertake this diet. i know thats a lousy excuse but i'm being honest ; ) God bless !

I know this topic is a little old but I still would like to chime in hoping you are still reading. I also suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It has taken 3 years but I have finally received several diagnoses that make sense and I am being treated for each one. I have Addison's disease, which is my biggest culprit contributing to fatigue. I also have Hashimoto's, underactive thyroid but autoimmune type. These both lead up to extreme fatigue, even while being treated I experience fatigue but it is better than it was before. I am on cortocosteroids for the Addison's. Get your adrenals checked. The saliva cortisol test will let you know if your adrenals are affected. You can not treat the thyroid if your adrenals are going out. The adrenal glands have to be treated in order for the thyroid to be in balance as well. I have learned a lot after 3 years and 11 doctors later. I know I still have tons more to learn since my illnesses are many and most are autoimmune. I just wanted to throw the adrenals out there since I did not see any response mention them.
I sure hope you have found some relief or answers. Don't give up. Be an advocate in your own health, learn as much as you can. It makes a difference.

Thank you for the encouragement. I have had my adrenals checked through salivary cortisol testing. Without digging out my results, I can't give you specifics but the doc says it showed adrenal fatigue and my pattern was reversed with an elevated cortisol in the evenings and at bedtime. I used some creams for a while but they are so expensive then I had another doc say the salivary testing is unreliable....Ugh !! One doc did say he would be willing to try putting me on Cortef as a last resort. I have the autoimmune thyroid disease and take Synthroid. I also have mild scalp psoriasis so I feel the key does lie in the autoimmune system. How long on the corticosteroids before you felt better and what type are you on exactly?? God bless you !!

Have you been tested for Lyme disease? I have no memory of being bitten by a tick, bo memory of a bulls eye rash but have advanced Lyme. Make sure they do tghe Elisa and Western Blot tests

Posted by @dd44all, Nov 8, 2011

Had the Lymes titer last week. have not got a copy of results yet so i dont know what type of test they actually ran but i am assuming it came back negative bc the nurse called and only concern was cholesterol. How do you feel now ? What kind of tx are you receiving? God bless you !

Have you had an overnight sleep study? It should be followed by a day study to determine exactly how sleepy you are during the day, and if your excessive fatigue might be narcolepsy. Check out just to review things about the disease. It usually has onset in the teen years. The sleep studies I think you need are a PSG and MSLT (polysomnogram and multiple sleep latency test). I am a registered sleep technologist and have been in the field for 15 years. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I will check into that. I know as a child I would sleep 16 hours a day and my parents had to force me to move....diagnosed with depression but I feel like there is something else going on for sure!! God Bless !!
