Experience with Evenity and Reclast?
I'm in my mid 50's and have what my doctor says is severe osteoporosis. I have been on Tymlos on for almost 2 years and need to figure out next step before 2 years is up, either Evenity or Reclast. My numbers didn't increase as much as I would have liked on Tymlos (same dexa machine).
T score of AP Spine -2.4 (went up 5.4 %), Left femoral neck -3.0 (stayed the same), Right femoral neck -2.6 (stayed the same), left total hip -3.2 (3.1 % increase) and Right total hip -3.1 (increased 2.9%)
I can't take Fosomax due to gastro issues. My current doctor recommended Reclast and the second opinion doctor recommended Evenity since I didn't get much increase from Tymlos.
I'm very nervous about side effects from Evenity and Reclast. What has your experience been? My current doc doesn't recommend Prolia because she said it puts you at risk for bone loss when you stop it.
Any one have experiences with Evenity or Reclast after Tymlos or just experience with Evenity or Reclast in general?

Following...my numbers are similar. I have lost an inch of height. I spoke to an endochronologist recently, who suggested Forteo or Tymlos. I am terrified!

1 ReactionI am a 69 year old male who received the Reclast infusion almost two years ago! Everyone is different, it might work great for you! I too have been told I have osteoporosis. Prior to that infusion I felt great and getting ready to retire! Well, retired, infusion and have had constant shoulder pain, left foot pain, nausea and fatigue. There are days worse than others, yet I manage! I’m not sure why I went to this endocrinologist in the first place, I’ve had Ankolosing spondylitis for better than 50 years and managed; I continue to manage, just wish I had never received this infusion! Some say it works great as long as administered over a longer period of time and well hydrated. Best of luck!

4 ReactionsI am on Evenity right now after doing 6 months of Tymlos and generic Forteo (teraparatide). In my case, my insurance company revoked my approval for Tymlos because I hadn’t tried generic Forteo first. I had side effects from the teraparatide so I found an endocrinologist who would prescribe Evenity. I am the end of my Evenity treatment and will have a DEXA scan at the end of March.
Evenity has been fine for me. I do have some joint pain from it and have gained 8 lbs but all of this has been tolerable as my goal is to avoid another vertebral fracture. Most people have no side effects.
Only you can decide how to proceed. All I can say is that for me, Evenity has had fewer side effects than Tymlos or teraparatide.

4 Reactions@oopsiedaisy please post again once you've had your DEXA. Hope you got further gains. I'm currently still on Forteo with Plan A go on Reclast to lock in gains afterwards, Plan B go on Evenity if low or no gains on Forteo. Those are my plans anyway, still to be discussed with new rheum at my April appointment after my DEXA next week.

3 ReactionsHello.
Reclast does not build Bone reclast Helps to stop the loss of Bone
Evenity Builds bone as well as helps with the loss of Bone
I had the reclast Infusions once a year for three years
And it did help to slow down the loss of bone, but then after three years, I began losing more Bone so we decided to try
The Bone building drug EVENITY
I AM Getting my sixth injection out of 12
And then I will find out if it has increased my bone density
I am 73 and it definitely has had noticeable side effects
It seems everyone is different and what the medical profession posts as side effects is not the same as what you hear from other others who have gone through the 12 month Series of injections
The first month and a half for me were very painful, but now that I’m coming up on my 6 th injection I am finally feeling better
I had terrible lethargy
My concern now is
Whether to go on reclast or prolia To maintain any bone building, I have achieved through evenity
You’ll have to look for other blogs on this site to get more responses from others’ Side effects
I received communication from a lady who is going for her second round of evenity Because the Bone building she received from the first round of evenity, didn’t hold after two years of trying reclast ( the infusion that slows down bone loss) she said it just didn’t hold the bone gain that she received through The 12 month injections of evenity

3 Reactions@dannyandebbie never again for me.
Following springy@springy.
I have had 2 of 3 Reclast infusions, and refused the 3rd after developing severe dental problems, likely including Osteonecrosis. So far, I have not spoken to anyone else who has reported having dental problems after taking Reclast. According to my Endocrinologist, it worked well for the intended purpose, but this particular side effect is causing serious dental problems for me. Do diligent research before making a final decision regarding what to take.
