Exercise the New Connect

Posted by MGMolly @Erinmfs, Apr 3 9:36am

Hi,

send me a message, I'll send one back, let's test this new Connect! 🙂

@Erinmfs

@colleenyoung , I just tried the Search feature, over a list of members to a group, I think it was the Let's go for a Walk thread with so many postings and members. I searched for myself (erin), wondering if I'd see all my posts in that thread. Instead, I found another Erin, which was nice, (not in that group, it searched everywhere), and it also matched the word "urinate"! Urinate was bold in the postings, so I'll have to think that Erin matches urine on the New Connect!

Ah Molly, you discovered an improvement of the new search function. It now searches not only for exact key words, but also close matches and misspellings. Erin matching with "urine" is an unfortunate match thought, isn't it?

Indeed the search function will see further refinements in the coming weeks.

@migizii, thanks for your feedback. Let me help you get over the new humps and bumps.

A. On-Site Notifications: To see all your notifications, click on the bell icon and then click view all. See the image below.

B. Email notifications: You will get fewer emails. This was a big complaint of many members that the email volume was overwhelming. You can choose to continue to get emails for every new post if you wish. Here's how:
1. Choose a group you wish to follow from the Group Directory in the menu (☰) https://connect.mayoclinic.org/groups/
2. Open the group.
3. Click the 3 dots (…) and select "Get emails for all new posts in this group"
See the second image below.

For more tips, instructions of new features, be sure to follow the About Connect: Who, What & Why blog https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/

I have gone to groups and am following my groups. I will do the 3 dots thing as presently I get no emails including the daily digest.

No option to see all notifications ….only a few at a time…very cumbersome in this little box….also, now that I did the … system, nothing is showing up in my email. Am I to suppose I have to go through the main connect page to find anything?

@colleenyoung this search capability is still amazing! I tried to search for MGMolly, nothing came up. And, I searched for Erin again, and found myself! Thank you! I also found Urine again, but now I see that if we jumble up the letters in Urine, we get Erin with the letter U! I learned something!

@colleenyoung I'm not getting the daily digest, not yesterday nor today. Miss that. Thanks for all your help. You've done a fantastic job and this wasn't easy. So few glitches. Once again, Mayo shines. Once again, Colleen and IT shine. You deserve so many pats on the back!!!
Blessings in all you do, Colleen. Elizabeth

I noticed that too, don't always get the Daily Digest. I don't always get an email either, but that is difficult to troubleshoot from this side.

@Erinmfs
I'm still having trouble with typing in Effexor it still changes to “edge of.”
I turned off autocorrect & spell check. Don't know what else to turn off.
Nothing exciting comes up when I enter my username. Be nice to choose “exact matches only.” When it searches near matches to much often comes up. I would like it to search exactly what is entered. But it wasn't designed for my sole use. And I like words better than tiny pictures too! Can't please everyone I guess. I can only edit within a few minutes (5 I think)

@jakedduck1 , To clarify, I’m searching from the search box at a group, so the Searchbox says Search this Group. efflexor, there, I typed that in, whatever it is. I didn’t get autocorrect to anything. I use a iPhone 12 5G.

Hi @ess77 @Erinmfs @jakedduck1, issues with sending the daily digest are persistent. We're working on it. Fingers crossed that we get the bug worked out and that you get it tomorrow. Please let me know.

Jake, I like your ideas of being able to choose "exact matches only"

Posts can be edited within 30 minutes of posting. Or should be. I will check.

@colleenyoung
I like the daily digest and her it regularly.
I have another question about searching for Effexor. That thread is in mental health so do I choose “mental health” or can I choose a particular thread within mental health or stigma in the Epilepsy thread etc?
Thank you for all your help,
Jake
