Endometrial adenocarcinoma anyone?
I have been diagnosed with Endometrial adenocarcinoma (FIGO grade II, endometrioid type) and would like any information on it and how do I go about getting approved to go to Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale Az?

@camaroyo There are many of us here in the Gynecological Cancers support group who are currently in treatment or have been diagnosed with endometriod adenocarcinoma. If you would like to read what we have experienced, our respective treatments, and where we received our treatment, you can type “endometriod adenocarcinoma” in the search box at the top of this page.
Are you located in Arizona? There are a few ways you can find out if you can go to Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.
1) The first, and often the best way, is to ask your doctor to make a referral. That way, Mayo Clinic will have your relevant information and can make a quicker decision on openings.
2) You can call or make a request online at this link:

2 Reactions@naturegirl5 Hi, thanks so much for your quick response. I am in Az and about 30 or so mins from Mayo Clinic. My Dr. already made a referral to another Dr. so I’ll have to contact her. I am going to look at your experiences etc. I appreciate your time and info.
@camaroyo It’s great that you are so close to Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.
There is a wealth of wisdom in this support group. I hope you will check it out.
Here is a website that I often use and refer to about endometrial cancer. I found that this website helped me to formulate my questions for my doctors too.

When do you plan to see your oncologist?

1 Reaction@naturegirl5 Thank you so much. I downloaded the PDF of the website you shared.
My appt is 13 May with the oncologist my Dr recommended and is down in Scottsdale Az. So rather than wait I want to get a handle on what I am facing and how critical is is to be seen ASAP. Getting in Mayo may take time, but I still plan to look into it. I’ve read a lot in the support group already and plan to keep up with it. Again, thx so much for your help!!!

1 Reaction@camaroyo May 13 is this Wednesday. I’m glad you got in with the oncologist quickly. It’s difficult to know how quickly a referral to Mayo will get you in. I hope that the information I shared will help you to formulate your questions.
One time when I came in to an appointment with my questions written ahead of time - it was for a fracture in my knee and unrelated to cancer - my doctor said at the end, “Did I answer all of your questions?”. That’s when I realized that not only had I thought of my questions ahead of time but the doctor appreciated that I was organized in my visit.
Will you come back and let me know what you learn from at your oncology appointment on the 13th?
@naturegirl5 Yes, couple of days to start this journey. I usually come prepared with questions to appt’s. So I get the answers I want to know. But yes, the info you provided was very helpful and very much appreciated. I will let you know what’s going on. Thx so much. Good to be able to share this. It’s not a pleasant situation to deal with.

My appt went well. So much to tell so I’ll just share highlights. Two options offered, UTI after an MRI to see if I’m compatible for it. If not, robotic surgery. So hoping for UTI. Will just have a lot of follow-ups. Really pleased with this Dr. so much more to tell but don’t want to tell it all here. Hoping I sleep well tonight finally. Promising and hoping for the best. Go back in 3 weeks, will get MRI and go from there. He was so personable and kind. I think best dr. I’ve ever seen.
@camaroyo This is good news that your appointment went well. It sounds like you may feel comfortable with your oncologist that you will stay with him?
A question. I’m familiar with robotic laparoscopic surgery for a hysterectomy. That’s what I had in 2019. I came home with 5 small incisions. What does UTI stand for? Is that a kind of surgery or procedure?
Now that you have a plan in place I hope you sleep better. Did you sleep well last night?

1 ReactionHi, IUD for endometrial cancer. Like the IUD they use for pregnancies. Google it to read on it. Quite interesting. I’ll probably stay with him because he’s pretty progressive and it seems like I’ll get taken care of quickly. He has a great bedside manner and really spent time discussing everything. My husband came with me and he was impressed too. I would have slept great except for a aching hip drove me nuts. Slwsys something. But we both feel more relief and hope for the best. I’ll let you know as things progress. Go back I think it’s June 2nd. Giving me time to absorb and decide which option I want to go for. IUD option depends on MRI whether that can be done. 🤞 I’ll keep in touch.
PLEASE NOTE IT IS IUD NOT UTI.

@camaroyo OK. Now I understand the used of an IUD for Endometrial carcinoma if the goal is to retain fertility in a younger woman. Without knowing your age I didn't realize this may be a consideration for you. If yes, then it does make sense to see how the IUD works before doing anything surgically.
Is this correct?
