Elimination odors

Posted by Jeanene Headlee @jeanene, Jul 17, 2018

Since my liver transplant 7 weeks ago, my urine and bowel movements do not smell like MY urine and BMs. I was told that it might be due to the new/used liver OR it might be from new medications. The smell is very "fishy", and no, I am not eating fish.
Has anyone else experienced this? Even my husband agrees that the smell of both is not like before transplant.
Just curious,

@jeanene, I do not recall anything like this in my own experience. I had a liver and kidney transplant in 2009, and I certainly can understand your desire to hear from someone.
Are you staying hydrated? Have you mentioned this to your transplant team? They should be able to tell you if it needs to be investigated. Let me know what you find out.

Oh! - Congratulations on your recent liver transplant! At 7 weeks, you are still doing some healing, so it could be related.
